HOSC 26 May 26
The Health Overview and Scrutiny Committee met on 26 May 2026, where the Case for Change document was shared.
This is the report the Trust has been waiting for before setting out its plans for future maternity services in Gloucestershire.
At this stage, it appears to be largely a demographic review.
It reads more like a high-level slide deck of assumptions than a serious evidence base for major maternity transformation.
It does not answer the deeper questions about safety, access, continuity of care, rural families, birth choice, or the long-term dismantling of community maternity services.
The wider evidence remains unchanged.
National maternity reports, continuity of care research, service-user experience, and the legal and policy commitments around personalised maternity care all remain highly relevant.
GMAG is assembling a panel discussion on Tuesday 9 July to go through the documents, discuss our reactions and questions, and gather useful information to include in our response to the Case for Change.
